About Our Music Ministry
The music program at Trinity Episcopal Church strives to glorify God through the most perfect and sincere music. Rooted in the rich Anglican tradition, yet expressed in a variety of sacred genres, music at Trinity is integral to how faith is expressed to God, both individually and as a collective worshiping family. Our thanks, wonder, and prayers are offered to God through hymns, psalms, canticles, anthems, and many other forms of sacred music. Whether through an anthem sung by the choir, a hymn offered by the entire congregation, or the presentation of an organ offertory, we discover the possibility to transform lives, heal wounds, inspire zeal, and bring us closer to Christ through music.
We invite you to be part of this ministry at the center of life at Trinity. Whether through our adult choir, our instrumental ensembles, or as a participatory congregant during our services throughout the year, there is a space for every person to offer their praise and prayers to God through music. You are warmly invited to contact our Director of Music, Frank Van Atta, to learn more or to offer your gifts through the music ministry.
About Our Adult Choir
Trinity's Adult Choir is comprised of approximately 25 members from within the Parish and sings at Sunday services throughout the academic year. Our volunteer singers are supported and enhanced by section leaders who are professionally-trained and experienced musicians. This choir sings a wide variety of works including traditional, spirituals, and contemporary pieces in a repertoire that speaks to the backgrounds and faith experiences of the diverse congregation at Trinity. The choir offers music at various events throughout the year, including a Lessons and Carols service in December. All are welcome and invited to be part of this ensemble, which rehearses each Sunday immediately following the service until 12:45pm in the Nave.
The Instruments at Trinity
In addition to praising God with our voices, Trinity is blessed with excellent instruments throughout our campus. Our Sanctuary contains a three-manual pipe organ that was installed in 1989 and refurbished in 2016 by the Schantz Organ Company of Orrville, Ohio. Learn more about the organ
Additionally, the Sanctuary hosts the Betty Adair Memorial Piano, a concert grand-sized Everett instrument. Both the organ and the piano are used for services throughout the year, as well as for recitals and special services.
The Parish Hall contains a Rodgers electric organ that was installed in 2005, along with a Baldwin grand piano. These instruments are primarily used for choral rehearsals, often held in the Parish Hall, but also for smaller, more intimate worship gatherings. We are incredibly grateful to the Adair family for the donation and stewardship of these instruments. We warmly invite experienced musicians to play and enjoy our instruments. Please contact our Director of Music, Frank Van Atta, if you are interested in learning more about our incredible instruments at Trinity.
